Horiana Williams

Ngāti Kahungunu, Te-Aitanga-a-Mahaki, Rongowhakaata

Horiana Williams has worked in the health sector for over ten years, supporting various businesses and organisations in quality and compliance, foundation assessments, contract reporting, strategic planning, and governance.

Her passion lies in enhancing the health and well-being of whānau within communities. She believes that engagement and access to excellent service providers are crucial first steps in achieving this goal, and she strives to support providers in attaining this level of excellence.

Currently, Horiana works a dual role, the first as Managing Director at Mauri Ora Services, where she delivers business administration support to other entities who need support.  Oversees quality and compliance-related tasks associated with delivering best practices and guides GP clinics nationwide to meet their requirements under the NZCGPs Foundation Standards.

Additionally, she has served as the Quality and Compliance Administrator for Totara Health, a general practice committed to delivering high-quality healthcare focusing on improving health outcomes for Māori, Pacific, and low-income patients and their whānau.

Horiana is also the Managing Director of Te Awhiorangi, where they deliver the rangatahi programme  Te Oranga Pumanawa (TOP) in Marewa, Napier. This kaupapa offers local solutions to enhance the health and well-being of rangatahi, who have been impacted by the many influences of life, including suicide, homelessness, addiction, and domestic violence.

She focuses on providing opportunities for rangatahi to explore and learn various life skills, coping strategies, and available resources to support them during challenging times using a Te Ao Māori framework that awakens the knowledge and practices embedded in our DNA.

Governance is another passion for Horiana, as providing influence from this level can introduce different outcomes for the community.  Horiana has been the Waimārama Marae Trustee for Te Haaro - Te Taiwhenua o Heretaunga and now for Tamatea Pōkai Whenua (previously Heretaunga Tamatea Settlement Trust).

Horiana was the Chair of Anahera o Te Rangi Charitable Trust (financial recipient of the Battle for Life event) and was responsible for donating those funds to the community by supporting Suicide Prevention kaupapa.

Horiana acknowledges her whakapapa and aspires to follow in the footsteps of her tipuna Harawira Mahikai Te Tātere, Wi Pere and Arikirangi Te Kooti when it comes to serving our people.
